Montclare is a relatively relaxed neighborhood. There are multiple schools nearby that you can send your children to, private and public. Many of the neighborhood blocks (mine included) host an annual block party, so there are many opportunities to connect with other people.
I just moved to the Montclare neighborhood and it is a quiet, beautiful and friendly neighborhood. Neighbors are helpful and the houses and apartments are beautiful. Everyone is extremely helpful and friendly.
There are two malls relatively close to each other in this area. The first is The Brickyard Mall and the second is the Harlem Irving Plaza (known as HIP). Both are great malls. The Brickyard has a wide variety of different shops including gyms, department stores, hardware stores, and grocery stores along with several places to eat. The HIP has the more upper and fancier stores such as Macy's, Kohl's etc. Most of my shopping occurs at the Brickyard with occasional trips to the HIP area.
