I moved to this neighborhood about 8 years ago and I really love it. There's two sections of montbello, one side is newer and has more two story houses and the other side is older but it doesn't have a home owners association so you have a lot more freedom to decorate as you please. It's a very safe place and has two plazas nearby. There's two grocery stores nearby as well as a nail salon, a dry cleaners, a restaurant, a little Cesar's pizza, Subway, Wingstop, and a laundromat. There's a planet fitness in the other plaza and a weight room in the montbello recreation center and a pool. Outside of the rec center there's a nature trail that lots of people use.
Montebello is an older neighborhood, charming if a bit disorganized. The neighborhood is historically a community of Color but, thanks to gentrification, the expansion of Montebello into Green Valley has become a closer reflection of downtown Denver but with cul-de-sacs. There are a lot of parks and the local bus routes, while they take a while, are very accessible. The people here are friendly and the community is usually very inclusive and caring. The idiom care for your neighbor and he'll care for you is an accurate statement here. The most common households are families, married pairs with their children or older couples who are trying to finish paying off their mortgages. While the people are friendly, there are still moments where gun violence occurs but usually late at night and far from areas where children play. With the expansion of Denver Montbello is now centrally located between the Green Vally and Stapleton area with lots of choices for entertainment and shopping.
Montbello is the best and one of the most diverse neighborhoods in Denver. During the spring and the summer Montbello great landscaping and has a park filled with people. It's the type of neighborhood where everyone knows and loves each other. I lived there for 15 years and have never had one complaint about Montbello. The elementary schools are improving and do provide classes for Spanish speaking kids.
