My neighborhood is very diverse and you can get almost anything here. It is mostly known for being the center of the Latinx culture. When tourists come to San Francisco, the Mission is a very popular place. A famous restaurant in this neighborhood is called "La Taqueria". They have really great Mexican food like burritos, tacos, nachos, etc.
As a 17 year old girl who walks home by herself I would say that I feel safe because the streets are lit up at night so I know where I'm going. I also go to school in the Mission and it is very easy for me to commute because the Mission also has great transportation that could take you anywhere in the city.
Overall, I really love this neighborhood because of its diversity and transportation, among other things.

I just moved to this neighborhood a month ago and am loving it so far. It is an incredibly diverse and vibrant community. San Francisco is expensive, but there are plenty of people (like me) who have found cheap/rent controlled places to live. My rent here ($553/month is cheaper than in Brooklyn!) There is no shortage of burrito options. If you are moving to San Francisco and are looking to live in a place where the tech industry hasn't entirely dominated the scene, this is a great neighborhood to live in. Plenty of things to do/places to eat!
I have lived in the mission off and on for almost 25 years. I used to love it for its mix of diversity, affordability, and support of creative living. In recent years an influx of highly paid technology workers has created overwhelming gentrification. This has caused an exodus of long-term residents leading to the extinction of what used to make this the best neighborhood in the city.
