Millbrook Reviews
Rating 4 out of 5 3 reviews
Recently moved to Millbrook from Academy Gardens. Downsizing. Advantage: have lived in the area for decades. Family members 1-block away for 25+ years. Very familiar. Stable well-maintained neighborhood on moderately quiet street. Poquessing Creek Park at the corner. A short street of 2-BR row ranchers opposite 2-story family homes. Located in Our Lady of Calvary parish. Close to shopping, medical care (Jefferson Torresdale Hospital — avoid their ER unless true emergency), OLOC grade school and major roads. Not that close to public transportation: about 1/2- mile walk out to Knights and Dundee Roads and Septa buses. About 5-10 minute drive to Septa’s Torresdale Regional Rail station at Grant Avenue and James Street. Education: except for magnet schools and some charters- Philadelphia public schools are bad! Stick with private or Catholic schools or move to the suburbs! Safe area with a lot of police and firefighters as residents. Good choice if suburbs out of price range!
Great place to live. I always feel safe when walking around my neighborhood at night. My neighbors are great. Housing is expensive but it is worth it.
I do not feel as unsafe as I would in a neighborhood such as Mayfair.
