Marcy Holmes is a very family friendly neighborhood. It is a central location including walking distances to local elementary schools, grocery stores as well as numerous parks!
This is a very well connected area. There is easy access to highways. It lends itself pretty well to getting around by bike too having 8th street and the Stone Arch bridge at it's borders. Plenty to see and do within a quick bike ride. Expect to walk a few blocks if you drive home late at night. There is a heavy presence of U students here who are in their own little world, so you kind of have to make your own fun and invite outsiders in if you're a working professional. Occasionally, I see the police out and about stopping drama from happening but usually it's closer to dinkytown. They do patrol the area a lot and stop often too. There are some nice-looking historic homes but plenty of hack-shacks packed with students that tend to be more run down. There could be more parks in the area as the ones that exist seem pretty small and run-down. The riverfront is quite nice but crossing University and 4th to get to it is a pain.
Artists, restaurants, and the river. Great place to live. Proximity to University of Minnesota is a Plus!
