I love Mandarin and all the parks, shopping and family atmosphere. I wish that they would do more to clean up trash on local roads. During the Hurrican this year the city was able to help us and people around us recovery and rebuild. The community is very strong and we all bond together in times of need. I hope that people will become more involved with the history and nature around mandarin and invest more times in the beautiful parks mandarin offers.
I was able to purchase a nice home in a lovely part of town for a price that would have been unattainable in Miami. The City is clean, safe, and well established. The East part of town is very green with beautiful landscape. In spite of all these positive attributes, I'm only giving it two stars because I find this city painfully boring. The residents are elderly and tend to keep to themselves. Younger adults are hard to make friends with. There is a lack of diversity where I live, but of the black people in my age group that are here, are the ones that I don't have much on common with (Im a 41 yr old black woman btw) many of the white residents seem trailer parkish, I don't have much in common with them either. So imo, if you are 55 and older and a white American citizen, I would recommend Mandairn for you. If you like parks & not much else I would recommend this town for you... Everyone else would just get bored.
Very safe but everything is a minimum of 10-15 minutes away. Everything very much revolves around strip malls and there is a drastic difference in income in different neighborhoods within.
