I love the local businesses in Norfolk! There are many hole-in-the-wall places, especially downtown that I love to visit. They have a great atmosphere, introduce great local music and art, and the people who work there are often, if not always, very friendly. The food is delicious and helps many people try different things. The local coffee shops are great and create a better vibe that a certain popular coffee shop chain. There aren't a variety of local stores other than those that deal with food (so no local hardware stores, grocers, or many foreign stores), but that isn't too much of an issue since you can always find what you need nearby, say in the city next door.

I love everything . It's a good place for families. Raise your kids and enjoy the family. We look for a home everywhere and the best 2 homes are here. We love the hood.
There are plenty of places for pedestrians to walk, especially since there is a fairly significant amount of people who ride public transportation. Parking can be an issue, especially in the downtown area where not only people live, of course, but is a main attraction. Public transportation is becoming better, especially since the new light rail came along and I heard they are even considering to expand it. Congestion is bound to happen, as it is in any other city or state. It usually depends on the time of day/volume of traffic and whether or not there is an accident or road work.
