I love living in Lakeview; it's a friendly and very walkable neighborhood; especially near the Southport Corridor, with great access to public transit to downtown too.
More recently there's been an uptick in crime and I wish the police were doing more to combat it. It can also be difficult to live here during Cubs game or when there's big events at the bars on Clark Street, especially with drunk people wandering around or causing minor property damage. This could be a really incredible place to live long-term; but as it is we're not sure we'll stay here if crime keeps increasing.

Lakeview is somewhere I haven't been able to move away from since I moved to Chicago. It's a lovely mix of suburban/urban with tree-lined streets, boutique/chain shops, fantastic dining options, and easy access to public transit. One of my favorite things is not being too far from the lakefront and constantly take advantage of the lakefront path during the warmer months. This area of the city is perfect for young professionals, families, and students alike. The commute downtown is around 30 minutes and the L stations are not too far apart. I'd highly recommend this area to anyone searching for a friendly, picturesque neighborhood in Chicago.
Lakeview is a great walking neighborhood - lots of family owned restaurants and charming restaurants everywhere. You have the beauty of the lake within a minutes walk and the convenience of downtown and every retail shop within a short car ride or easy public transit. Most importantly, Lakeview is probably one of the friendliest neighborhoods you'll find.
