I live in a recently re-gentrified neighborhood, so there are a lot of new apartment buildings around. There are also quite a few fast food restaurants due to the socioeconomic level of our neighborhood. There are several mom-and-pop stores, including salons, markets and coffee shops. There is a Safeway a few blocks up where we do most of our grocery shopping. There is also a Fred Meyer and a Walmart within 3 miles for any other needs we may have. We really don't have to leave our neighborhood to get anything.
Job opportunities are available, but not in a flexible manner as benefiting a student.
I live in a diverse neighborhood not too far from downtown. The people are great and the neighborhood is generally safe.
