My community has an very high crime rate, so what organization do in order to keep this crime from happening is hold community service events, for all ages. Weather it be a neighborhood/community basketball tournament or simply picking up trash, there is always something taking place-- and for all ages. There is also a YMCA right across from my where i live. You can come on any given day, except Sunday because the YMCA is closed, and you will see young kids either playing basketball, baseball, or easy to learn "playground games," such as tag or hide & go seek.
We have a YMCA where very few people go to exercise, but i would say out of every 30, there is one person who exercises. Most people are not concerned about their health, many drug abusers. Everyone wants to get "turnt up," a phrase describing how intoxicated they can get. If you see people who appear to be "skinny," it's probably because they don't have a much to eat at home, partake in heavy drug use, or both. We walk almost everywhere, and have to use the bus and/or train, ehich forces us to exercise, but that is about it. If we are going by the Body mass index, the ratio of regular weight to overweight citizens is about 50:50.
My neighborhood is ranked #8 in the top ten "Most dangerous neighborhoods in the country" by some websites. This is not a place where you want to live. But growing up here has changed my view of the world. Because of my upbringing in this community, i have mastered the skill of being grateful. I have had tons of fun and an innumerable amount of memories, but wish to move on. This is a "one stop & never come here again, unless you're helping, shop." I feel this place only purpose is to teach lessons and skills that you will need in time of hardship.
