Since childhood I have created so many memories in Jamaica, with my family & surrounding community. I received my first public school education within the neighborhood, I made my first friends with the neighbors' children, & the plethora of roaming stray cats - which my family fed constantly! I have created so many memories here such as learning to ride my bicycle training-wheels free, picking
vast sunflower plants twice my size & learning to ride the school bus. Jamaica has definitely developed throughout the years & has provided greater value to its residents such as offering more institutions, like St John's University from which I graduated.
I would love to see my neighborhood flourish further with gym clubs, safer public parks & healthier food options. I hope to have this vision for my neighborhood come to past & to have its residents indulge in everything Jamaica has to offer.

Great place to grow up with great restaurants and schools! One thing that is particularly great is how close we are to the city. Using the LIRR, you can be in the heart of Manhattan within 20 minutes - making it very convenient. Additionally, there is a large Caribbean influence within the community which brings us great food and nightlife.
This Queens neighborhood has a very diverse mix of different cultural backgrounds that help unearth an array amazing ethnic foods and sounds. It welcomes anyone with open arms into its "be all you can be" atmosphere. As with any New York City neighborhood, you must always remain street smart if you want to keep your heart in your chest and your money in your pockets. The people are beautiful and charming, and can surely sell garlic to a vampire. Public transportation and consumer goods are always at arms reach so you are never too far away from your next best adventure. A day in Jamaica, Queens can inspire any aspiring soul.
