Great neighborhood with strong Puerto Rican pride! The namesake park is a beautiful green space with fishing, paddle boats, and bike paths. There are several neighborhood spots reflective of long-term and new residents, including botanicas, restaurants, and locally owned boutiques.

Great neighborhood, lucrative, always something to do! I enjoy the culture and the different places to eat. The music during the summer is great and I enjoy the different activities that have in the park. One of them being Salsa night during the summer where they offer free salsa dances and get a chance to enjoy a beautiful summer night!
While Humboldt Park tends to get treated rather roughly in the press, it is a large neighborhood with many layers. It feels like a hipster haven, a second Puerto Rico and slightly yuppish all at once. There are tons of restaurants alongside long-standing Puerto Rican businesses , such as Lily's Record Shop for example. There are good schools, there are alternative high schools, even a random Montessori school.
Then you have your liquor stores, gas stations, local grocery stores and Family Dollar. Humboldt Park, the actual park, is beautiful, there are walking paths, a duck pond, food stands, a tennis court.
It encompasses all socio economic backgrounds and while it can be gritty, I've found the people to be very friendly which is a Godsend in a time when people seem afraid to speak to their neighbors.
