I like the hazelwood area because it is quiet. I dislike the area because it does have a high rate of crime, and it is too far away from where I grew up. I grew up in NE PORTLAND, where there's a sense of community and love. You can't find that in anywhere but NE PORTLAND. I do enjoy the quiet time away from that side of town though.
A very friendly neighborhood that is extremely walkable and convenient with great transit. Also has a large transient population, but still feels safe because of close proximity to the East Precinct of the Portland Police.
I like the Portland area, rain and all! However, east Portland can be a little scary at times, especially for a young female. I really enjoy the great public transportation Portland has to offer. The Max (trolley) is right outside my door and I can be downtown in about 20 minutes.
