I live on Woodlawn in the north end of Greenlake, and i think that the area itself is awesome. The park is so close, that during the summer, it’s almost impossible to stay indoors all day. Its an arms reach away from various restaurants and the local PCC grocery store. It also has the pros of public transportation that can get you almost anywhere you want.

However Seattle is still an urban center and has its own problems, very few of these things are reflected in this neighborhood. Every once in awhile there will be drunk/homeless/druggie people yelling around the street, and there are a lot of sirens, but other than that it’s not too bad. These things are somehing that are pretty easy to get used to.

My dad bought his first house in Greenlake when he was 21 years old and he is in that same house today. Its my family home. I am one of 6 kids and my siblings and I attended all of the same local schools. My dad worked nights and for 25 years he was the one who routinely took us to school and picked us up everyday. He was mentioned at my youngest brother's 5th grade graduation. The community in Greenlake has always been nurturing. I played sports for the community center. Track, Basketball, Swimming, all were done at the community center. I've never won anything else in my life besides those blue ribbons given out at the track meets. My older siblings have children now and it brings a lot of joy to their parents that they can show their children their home grown roots. Not many people can do that anymore.
Greenlake is really white and lacks culture. The bars are boring no nightlife, everyone looks the same 800k for a 2 bedroom condo is crazy.
