Take it with a grain of salt. But as a young adult between the ages of 20-35, it's not really an ideal place. I live in Upper Glendale where most of the commutes I take require a bus. While it sounds convenient, most of the people I'm friends with prefer having a train nearby or having a bodega on every corner. I have a deli that is 3+ blocks away, where me and my friends complain is pricey, don't have much, and only takes cash and no card. Busses take forever to arrive unless you time it right. I also have a car and after having it for 2 years here, people are REALLY OVERPROTECTIVE! To the point where it's a little immature. Be it about their cars, parking spots, and driveways. Once you have a car here, everyone likes to be very nosey and watch you interact with your car like a hawk. Limited parking at night. People here are vultures with parking spots. You will not be treated well. Everyone here is very nosey and don't mind their own business.
A lot of people who live here rent the two family homes. That results in some residents who don’t care about their neighbors, are loud and obnoxious and don’t take care of the property. We constantly hear motorcycles, leaf blowers, loud music and people yelling. They also recently built a 200 man homeless shelter in the neighborhood which has made it feel less safe when they wander the streets. My citizen app is constantly going off with crime reported in the neighborhood. Otherwise, it is a very pretty area, lots of trees, mostly friendly people, lots of stores and food nearby, and playgrounds.
There is access to everything in this neighborhood, public transit, grocery stores, pharmacies, schools, malls, police and fire departments, and cafes. Everything is walking distance. Some areas are quieter than others depending on the neighbors, apart from the occasional traffic jam. Summers are a little busier, but nothing too chaotic.
