Gerritsen Beach is a close-knit neighborhood that is always expanding. It is becoming more diverse and booming in renovations on homes. There is an elementary school located in the neighborhood, which is a great one. Most kids go to this school since it is so close to home. Many people know each other and if they do not, it is not that hard to meet new people. Everyone is friendly and cares about giving back to the community. Hurricane Sandy devastated this area and six years later, residents are still trying to get their lives back to normal. Overall, this is a great place to start and raise a family. There is little to no crime, unlike other neighborhoods surrounding the area.

Small neighborhood with lots of friendly neighbors! I feel very safe walking around, no matter what time you are out.
Very quiet and not hard to find. Polite, clean and friendly neighbors. Many local beaches and parks to relax. Public buses run all hours during the day and night. Lots of restaurants. Shopping mall not far away. Everything is walking distance.
