Great schools, great local shops and budding development. Between the Kedzie Orange Line, and the 55 and the 52A buses taking you along the main 55th Street and Kedzie Av. thoroughfares, you can commute very easily to wherever you need to go. Don't forget to stop by the local La Michoacana delicacy shops! They're a real treat.

A beautiful community plagued by gang violence and criminal activity. While resources and facilities that mimic those of richer neighborhoods exist, they are overshadowed by the aforementioned troubles. Not long ago, 3 houses on my block were broken into, so the troubles are personal.
The only thing that I would want to see change in Gage Park is a decrease in violence. But I have been living in this neighborhood for 18 years, I felt safe in certain occasions. I say certain occasions because I have heard gunshots and seen things that someone should not see. On the other hand, people know people in this neighborhood and that is a comforting feeling knowing familiar faces. The neighborhood schools are getting better and majority of the students attending those schools are Latino/Hispanic.
