This is the neighborhood where I grew up and where my mom still lives, and I'm grateful every day that I was raised here.

You see a little bit of everything in this neighborhood; some people are well-off, others not so much. It seems like every race and nationality you can think of is in SL, and this neighborhood is no different. The schools are excellent as well, I feel like I received a quality education and they have only invested more into schools since I graduated.

I've lived in cities all across the country since I left San Leandro, but there's still a special feeling when I come home. This is a great place to raise a family; close enough to the big-city amenities of Oakland and San Francisco, but quiet enough to give your kids a great childhood.

There are a couple bars in this area, but they all look run down. If you want to have a date night or just a nice night out, you have to leave this city. There is no form of entertainment except movie theaters. The good thing is that there is a lot of family owned restaurants. My favorite one is around the corner from my house, Nick's. I know it sounds funny for a restaurant to not have a good omelet, but I think they have the best omelets. That is my favorite family restaurant.
I believe the employment opportunity in this area in average. Unfortunately, most of the involve working in retail. The city I live in has three CVS, two targets, two Walmarts, two sporting good stores, and multiple fast food places. There are also quite a few medical offices. But, I believe a great number of the people in this area rely on retail work for income.
