The Fairlington area is lovely. It's very walkable and there are a ton of restaurants around. Close enough to DC that you can get to work fast but, far enough away that you're in a safe area.
Shirlington is a small area of Arlington. It's is a wonderful area to walk in the park, take your dog down to the dog park, or simply sit and people watch. There is a great street with all types of restaurants from Greek to Latin to american. There's someone for everyone. Constantly you notice families out walking their dogs, or jogging. Children riding their bikes is not uncommon. The pools are very nice and close to the housing. The community does a great job on keeping it clean and tidy.
