The local businesses my area are decent, there aren't many mom and pop stores anymore. I believe that small businesses get railroaded by larger corporations. Especially, in this area most small business owners have to compete with larger companies or higher taxes which makes it unmanageable to keep a business open. Most successful businesses around New Haven have been opened for years and aren't in the urban communities. I've noticed over the years of living in this community that many small businesses in urban communities don't last long and if they do they need to either be brought out and advertised as "Under New Management". I do believe that people higher up disenfranchise small business owners to cut the competition and make more money.

I believe that in my community it is not difficult to find a job if you are well qualified or not. It all how you present yourself and how you communicate. I personally don't have a difficult time looking for employment because I know that networking is an essential part of searching for a employment. I know in the area I live in the it very common that people start with a low level job and work their way up and/ or they utilize the programs in the area that assist with job placement and training. The job market in this area is good but not great, it all depends on what the person is looking for.
They're mostly Hispanics, they are kind sometimes.
