My experience in this neighborhood has been great. I grew in southeast San Diego in a small part called encanto. I have been living here my whole life and learned so much. Public schools are near by and we also have quick access to many public transit systems. Local parks are around and many small businesses. Although there may be a crime rate but it isn't high or causes the feeling of not being safe. I made childhood friends and created a family within my community. It provides a lot of programs for those who need it. Its a good community because people look out for one and other. Many of the local businesses also support the local high schools in sports events and so much more. Our neighborhood may have had a bad reputation in the past but over time it has changed significantly. Adding community workshops such as gardens and activities in libraries.

There's easy transportation access and there are stores nearby. The cleanliness of the neighborhood could improve, along with better streets..
I live in a small South-East San Diego neighborhood called Encanto which in spanish means charm however that is only a name. There is an elementary school, high school, library and a small shopping center within a five mile radius although not the best institutions but we do have some resources. This is a working class neighborhood where every one fends for themselves and there family. Recently one of our neighbors could not keep up with their mortgage and where evicted. In that same house a new family moved in and my family has made made a neighborly bond with them, something we didn't really have before. I feel safer now than I did years back. Encanto is earning its name slowly but one step at a time.
