Quiet residential oasis in DC and great for young families, with close proximity to good schools, playgrounds, dog parks, and recreation centers. Surrounded by booming areas (Bloomingdale, Brookland, NoMa, H Street) and short walk to great neighborhood restaurants, coffee shops, and bars. Missing a good library and a grocery store within walking distance, but both are likely to change soon.
It's pretty safe, very clean. Lots of schools near by. Many many places to walk. They even have outdoor movies and markets in our local park. Very family friendly and the whole town is overall great.
Eckington has become and still is becoming one of the most vibrant parts of DC. There is so much development being done right now including large parks and new retail, restaurants, and a climbing gym, art studios, art gallery to be. Probably many more things I am not aware off. The closeness to Union Market is great, too.
I am happy to have moved here and are excited for the future of this neighborhood.
