I love Eastmoreland for the well-maintained historic homes, safe quiet streets, and huge shady trees. We have also been really pleased with the public schools. I have a correction for the description on this site, though. Eastmoreland does not have its own business district, so you need to go to Woodstock or Sellwood or another surrounding neighborhood to shop, run errands, or go out to eat. Not having a business district can be thought of as an advantage when you see how much they are encroaching on residential areas of Portland, but it also makes Eastmoreland less functionally walkable and bikeable.
East and Westmoreland are by far one of the best neighborhoods in the Portland-Metro area. Lots of great places within walking distance boutiques, great pubs and excellent food. Lots of access to public transportation. The houses are all unique as most of the neighborhood was build in the 1920-ish era. Great access to parks and gardens. In the top 3 best places to live within Portland. The people are friendly and say hi, truly a great place to live!
This is the best neighborhood we could have chosen to live in; friendly people, beautiful homes & a true sense of community. We couldn’t be happier!
