The East Side is my childhood I live and treasure. Many people over the Chicago area don’t really know about this area because of how small it is and far out it is from the city. However being a small community has it’s many pros because of everyone knowing one another making it a safer place to live. It is predominately a Hispanic community that continues to grow . I love waking up knowing that I have family and friends around me that I have grew up with and continue to do so. East Side is not just an area I have been apart of for eighteen years but a place that has shaped the young independent woman I am turning into. Through this neighborhood I have faced many challenges but have been able to overcome them because of the little things such as my close friends and family who always have my back.

The east side is a very diverse and welcoming part of Chicago. There is always something to do and new things to discover. Along with it being so diverse, you can get the chance to pick up a new language and become unified with the Hispanic and black culture. There is access to so many restaurants and stores. The only thing I would like to see change is safety. It´s becoming more and more dangerous each day and if it ever were to get fixed it would make the East Side even better.
The East Side of Chicago from a glance looks like a worn down suburb of the City, however, it has a lot more to offer than it may seem. The community for the most part is extremely welcoming. It is located by a bunch of old factories, because that is where the industrial part of Chicago used to be. I am committed to making the East Side a better place with my future degree by attempting to create a decline in gang violence and clean up some of the pollution that can be found not only in the air because of what used to be an industrial zone but the litter people keep throwing on the ground to this day.
