East Rock Reviews
Rating 3.08 out of 5 12 reviews
East Rock is a great neighborhood. Think tree lined streets with charming houses, lots of cafes, and less crime compared to the rest of New Haven. Most people who live here are young professionals, grad students, or young families. Other pros: it's close to downtown if you're looking for more nightlife/restaurants and East Rock park is a great place for outdoor activities. Rent is definitely more expensive than most other neighborhoods in New Haven but it's worth it for the above mentioned attributes. Biggest con IMO is that you have to drive 10+ min if you want to buy groceries for a decent price or do any other shopping.
There's a mix - there's not enough grocery stores or pharmacies, but great amenities like restaurants and cafes.
Not many jobs available in the area, but more opportunities are available outside my immediate neighborhood.
