East Flatbush is a relatively quiet neighborhood. Most residence are 1 to 3 family homes and apartment buildings. There are not plenty of train stations but a few public buses. The bus can be taken to the 2 train and then you would have access to the rest of the city. Downtown Brooklyn is 45 minutes away and Manhattan is an hour away. East Flatbush has a lot of trees and can be a calm neighborhood. There is not a lot of activity. Kings Plaza Mall is less than 30 minutes. There are some playgrounds spread around the neighborhood. The Flatbush Junction is close too with a Target, Dunkin Donuts, Dallas BBQ and plenty of other stores.

I lived in East Flatbush all my life. It has schools, day cares, etc. in walking distance if you would like to send your kids to those schools (middle school, elementary school, etc). It has a lot of stores such as corner stores, and other restaurants that you may like if those are the food you are into to. It doesn't have a variety of healthy options depending on where you go, but there are a few stores that sell organic things or healthy options. there is a lot of means of transportation that is near by, buses, subways, etc. there is parks that is being built for the enjoyment of kids and families during the summers.
Although people might consider it a 'ghetto' neighborhood, East Flatbush is very diverse they offer different community events and offer a lot of transportation services to Manhattan, the Bronx and downtown Brooklyn, it's home to many tourist attractions such as Prospect Park zoo, prospect Park, Brooklyn Botanical garden, and Grand Army plaza (Central library)
