The East End is a great area to live. You are close to the foothills, downtown, and campus. The only drawback for residing in this area is the ongoing construction due to St. Luke's Hospital.

It's quite a peaceful city to stay in, and most crimes reported are usually just speeding cars. When there was a report of a murder of three people last year, the entire city was shocked; yeah, it's very rare.
I find it to be a great place for families to be raised. It's safe, and fun, and not too big, so people don't have to be lost in the city.
