East Central Reviews
I like the affordability and proximity to both downtown and the University of Utah. It is a relatively quiet neighborhood with a healthy mixture of students and families. Very outdoorsy and very safe at night as well. It is far enough from downtown that there isn't any riffraff in the streets.
It's a nice place to live, near public transportation, outdoor fun, diverse food places and interesting people.
First, a warning: At first glance, there seems to be nothing to do here. That is wrong. The truth is that most of the best things to do here are the things that never make it into the mainstream. There are a number of small concert venues hosting a wide variety of local, indie and lesser known bands of all stripes. There are three theaters running musicals or plays and at least 4 museums easily within walking distance. Despite national opinion, Salt Lake has quite a few enjoyable bars. Just remember that the drinks will be expensive thanks to draconian alcohol taxes.
