City Heights Reviews
City Heights is great! With its great diversity, and central location to all the hip spots in San Diego, it’s a diamond in the rough. The hipsters are already here so that’s when you k ow it’s on the rise. It has a reputation as being rough in the past, but I’ve had more issues and seen more crime in downtown, PB, & North Park than in City Heights! It actually ranks lower in crime on average. I love the unique shops, cafes and restaurants and if you’re looking to buy an “affordable” home in San Diego, this is where it’s at, unless you want to be wayyy out east. City Heights is the place to watch!
City Heights is a cultural explosion in one neighborhood. There are over 40 different languages spoken in the area and it is often one of the first destinations chosen by refugees. The area can use more TLC from a cleanliness perspective and could also stand to have more healthy living options (in the form of grocery & eating options). That said, there is a nice network of canyons and parks that are well maintained and provide a great option for family outings and hikes.
City Heights is one of the most diverse place you can ever fine in San Diego. Because of that it is also filled with one of the poorest families as well do to massive amounts of immigrants and their families. The bright side is that because they are struggling to keep their families together and carry hope and opportunities for the future generations, you can expect wisdom and kindness to open-minded people and people with similar background. However, inexperience with dangers and strangers might get you stressed by the bad people around.
