Central City remains one of the preserved, historically black neighborhoods of New Orleans. It has begun to slowly transition in character as gentrification takes on pockets of the neighborhoods. Much is left to be done to revitalize this beautiful and soulful area of the city.

If I could do it all over again, I wouldn't live her because there's better opportunities else where and the general atmosphere of this area is not refreshing as it should be. Yes, this area does present a lot of great things and is known for the historic buildings that it possess. But there should most definitely be some changes made in this area. This area does have it shares of problems just as other cities do. But unfortunately the biggest problem of it all is the crime related with shootings of targeting specific people.
The local businesses in the area are poor, especially after Hurricane Katrina. Few businesses that were locally owned came back. Recently there has been a blooming trend of strip malls that are being built in the area. Mom and pop stores are scarce, but big company stores are present. Due to the recent opening of big box stores, everything needed is found in the area, but the grocery store is poor. It is a major chain, but doesn't carry the necessary supplies that other well known stores carry.
