Carmel Valley is a very family oriented community. You constantly see families around the neighborhood and it’s a pretty safe area. You get to know your neighbors well and there are so many restaurants and stores even within walking distance. There are many parks for children and safe Schools within a 10 minute commute. There are many shopping centers around and If you are planning to start a family this would be a good place to start. Everything is family friendly and during holidays there can be many events going on near your shopping center. There are also dance and karate studios around if that is something you or your child may be into!

Very good school district, your choices are diverse since there is an elementary school on every corner and 2 major public schools with high credibility, Torrey Pines and Canyon Crest Academy. Not severely diverse, the populous is mostly White/Asian/Hispanic. Although there isn't much crime there are a few car/home break in here and there. Not real tight knit community feel, but very family friendly. There are several open air shopping malls with plenty of parks and Del Mar nearby to go to the beach. However, it is very costly to live here. Most houses have smaller backyards and are fairly similar to each other, like most subsidized housing but with red, Spanish roofs. Traffic can get bad sometimes with constant construction and freeway traffic. All in all, a very nice, safe neighborhood great for raising a family, if you can pay for it.
My son went to Carmel Del Mar and had the best Elementary school experience possible. Besides the excellent school, there place is designed with families in mind with all the restaurants, shops, library, skate park, walkability, etc. Everyone is so friendly and it’s such a safe community.
