Charlotte is a smaller version of Atlanta but less diverse, few/no natural disasters, and less traffic (unless you live up near lake Norman). People are friendly and almost nobody is original to Charlotte. Many moved here from the NE or Midwest. Charlotte is growing significantly and many corporations relocating here. Lots to do but still lacking major sports teams, theatre, music, and attracting higher level entertainment.
I love living in Southend. I am close to work and am able to walk if I need to. I am near all my friends. I live along the lightrail trail and am near all the local craft breweries. Constantly new apartment buildings are being built in my area. There is always something to do.
Live a couple streets over from the projects but have not experienced any trouble of my own.
