I have loved growing up in bridlemile. The neighborhoods are beautiful and clean, and it’s a great place to raise children. One thing that could be improved is neighborhood identity.
Bridlemile is your stereotypical, upper/middle class white suburban neighborhood. Growing up here is safe but there is next to nothing to do. Living anywhere in SW Portland will leave you with a lack of public transportation, and unless you have a car you will likely be bored. This area deals with disproportionately high property taxes that are not likely to deflate any time soon.
I love this area, but when you grow up here it is easy to see the major changes that occur. Most of the government problems (which, granted I am not super educated on) seem to be part of larger systems, like the whole state government placing restrictions. It seems like whenever something potentially good is going to get done, too many interest groups get involved and it's impossible to please everyone so nothing gets done. It is easy to pick out the negative things, like traffic, but overall this is a great place to live. Lots of fun things to do and beautiful places to go.
