Safe. Express Buses to the Loop. Bracketed by the el stations at Belmont (Red & Brown lines) and Addison (Red line)--which also give access to the Loop and lakefront neighborhoods. Wide variety of restaurants.
I think boys town is amazing because there so many things to do here, and that is including shopping, bars, clubs, restaurants. One thing that made this town very fun and interesting is that people in LBGTQ community are gather around here a lot and that's what make it unique, and I feel to be a part of it.
I've lived in Boystown for two years now and love it. I am a young professional that works on Michigan Ave and the various options for bus and the train make it extremely easy to get down there. As a single renter I cannot attest to the schools or real estate market but as a woman in her late-twenties I have truly enjoyed living here.
It is a very beautiful and diverse neighborhood. All of the people are very accepting. It has many great restaurants and parks and is right next to the lake.
I love living in boystown! I am a young professional, moved to the neighborhood about a year ago. I cannot speak to the real estate market or the quality of schools at this time, as I do not have children and am not looking to buy. However, I find my rent is very affordable, I love the neighborhood, there is lots to do, and many grocery stores, gyms, etc nearby! I have found it to be extremely safe, and there seems to be a fair amount of local businesses hiring in the neighborhood (though I will admit that I do not work in boystown). In terms of working elsewhere and commuting, its the best! There are so many buses (some running express downtown) and it is very close to both the Addison and the Belmont stops on the El.
I'm close to a police station, but also close to a ton of bars, so there is a give and take. Petty crime is normal, but you're safe as long as you're smart. Nothing too bad ever happens.
I love my neighborhood in Chi-town! Everyone is friendly and there is always something to do. There are tons of festivals and the lake shore is close.
I think that the space is decent for college living.
