Bixby Knolls Reviews
I like the location and how it is close enough to the beach to drive or bus to! I liked that there are sidewalks, parks, spacious yards on properties, and plenty of public recreation. I would like to see this area implement better organic beautification and community gardens, sidewalk recycling, more frequent buses (they only run about 2 every hour), biking lanes, and a large solar power energy grid to help ease the carbon cost for the many commercial businesses and residences so close by. I also enjoyed shopping at the new mall.
I've lived in Bixby Knolls all my life. There have been many changes in this neighborhood but, aside from that giant peice of ugly art on atlantic, all the changes have been for the better. The storefronts have recently been redone and the monthly First Fridays event brings people together to enjoy local artists and musicians as well as the many flourishing local business that employ some of my friends! Bixby Knolls has always been, in my mind, the perfect cross between suburbs and big city. Here you are a short drive from Downtown Long Beach as well as the art district on 4th street where you can enjoy more reaturants and bars that are, for the most part, locally owned. Parking on the popular areas downtown can sometimes be hard to find, however, it is always either free or much cheaper than its sister Los Angeles.
This city is full of lovely people who are polite and some of the most interesting and accepting people you'll ever meet. Long Beach has been ranked the 2nd most diverse city in the US. Full of beautiful art and great food. However, the city is incredibly littered and dirty. Long Beach does not seperate their recycling.
