Berkeley Reviews

Have lived here since 2017 and absolutely love it (surprised it's so far down this rankings list to be honest). Proximity to two great lake parks--Berkeley park in particular has brand new tennis courts, a local library, rec center and dog park. A more neighborhood-y feel than many other areas of Denver in my opinion, near great restaurants/shops on Tennyson, and ~10-12 minute drive from basically all downtown amenities. In terms of quality of life, it really checks all the boxes.
I recently moved to the Berkeley neighborhood here in Denver, CO from San Francisco, CA. It is a great little neighborhood in transition. Much of the restaurant, coffee shop and retail is located on Tennyson Street. It's a great mix of places to meet up with your friends and neighbors along with cute shops to browse through. I walk the dog in Berkeley park every day around a beautiful lake. It's a very suburban feeling place but without the touch of any sort of big box stores and filled with older brick cottages.
Growing up here was great. The neighborhood wasn't too crowded or busy but it wasn't empty either. I felt safe going out alone or with friends and family. Everything i needed was relatively close. It is still this way though there is a lot more movement of people in and out. I'm no longer familiar with my neighbors the way i was before and the shops and restaurants in the area are constantly changing. This is both good and bad. I can see how the growth can benefit this community but sometimes I feel it's changing too fast. People from all over the country are moving in and adding their uniqueness to the area but I worry they aren't taking the time to understand and respect the history that's already been built here. As a native to this area, I loved growing up here and it will always be home; it's just incredibly different now- for better or worse.
