I love that Bensonhurst is near so many things like the bay, lots of parks, the subway, and more. I also like how it’s a safe neighborhood.
From the area that I lived and went to in Bensonhurst, it was not the greatest or the worst experience. Renting apartment wise, the rent is expensive for low-income families. Grocery-wise, I was close to 4 Asian supermarkets and 1 Italian market which is convenient for fresh produce. Safety-wise, there were times I felt like I was uncomfortable. Bensonhurst is an overall nice place to live in.
I really like bensonhurst because it is so diverse and has many people just like myself. I feel at home when I walk down the streets of bensonhurst. I feel safe and at home. the only downside is that it is sometimes really dirty and too much littering going on.
A great diverse neighborhood in Brooklyn a lot of stores and great community in general! Has school and banks and stores
Bensonhurst is a quiet, safe, and affordable neighborhood with excellent food options. There may not be much in the way of nightlife, but I like that.
I love living in Bensonhurst. It is a semi-quiet neighborhood with much diversity. The crime isn't as high as in other neighborhoods, but it's still not the safest. There are many different small businesses for people of all different backgrounds to enjoy. The schools are decent, nothing crazy. The stores aren't pricey and all people can find something to buy at a reasonable price. There are a few churches/mosques around. At night it is very quiet, except if you live near the fire department. The local parks are not the best, but one is going through a renovation currently. The houses/apartments are a bit pricey for what they, from what I hear. The houses are not the best but decent. It is not a luxurious neighborhood but it's a neighborhood I would suggest to someone if they want to just relax.
Bensonhurst is a humble neighborhood, with a diverse community (largely Russian and Chinese nowadays). We have some nice Chinese restaurants here, and several convenience stores. NetCost Market, a Russian grocery store, is pretty good, too.
Best neighborhood. Very safe! Never had any issues and I grew up here. I loved the area and the people.
I grew up in Bensonhurst and I liked how growing up you kind of knew everyone. You go to a local store once or twice and the owners recognize you and you end up building a connection with these people.
Area has a lot of public schools, walkable distances to stores, and the transit. Diverse community, cheaper than living in the city.
I've lived in this neighborhood for over ten years. It used to be a safe place but in the past year or so I'd started to see more people smoking marijuana on the street. At night there are certain group of people going from car to car on the blocks to trying opening unlocked car. I had two incidence of the same type of people entering my driveway and stole stuffs from my family's cars. Aside from the increase in petty crimes, this is a very diverse neighborhood with convenient public transportation.
It’s a pretty good neighborhood. Very friendly to immigrants however not very fond of other Americans who move here due to the threat of gentrification the locals face because of them.
I like how this community is calm and full of diversity. There are different stores and it's not so quiet.
As a resident of Bensonhurst, the neighborhood here has a quiet nightlife, good amount of schools nearby, extremely safe and has many buses and trains nearby. The only downside is the houses here are quite expensive.
Bensonhurst is an overall good neighborhood to be in. A lot of transportation methods (train and bus stations) which makes it convenient to travel. The schools aren't the best but have improved in education and contacting the students' families in a short amount of time. There are a few parks here and are in great condition although the grass and plants are sometimes not maintained.
The community is great and everyone is friendly. There is also a nice amount of supermarkets, clinics, and orthodontists around the area.
A nice, safe, quiet family neighborhood. A lot of mom and pop shops and people generally travel to Manhattan for job opportunities.
