Benning Ridge Reviews
I own home in Benning Ridge. I love it. My home is on a hill in a tree lined area nestled among other single family homes. I have amazing views. If I walk anywhere within several blocks my neighbors have cozy tree lined streets, hills, and amazing views as well. I drive to work Downtown in 20 minutes. Capitol Hill or H St in 10 min. Reagan airport 20 min. My neighbors and neighborhood are quiet. I am a single woman and I feel safe. There is a DC public housing community that impacts the data/statistics on the neighborhood, but anyone who is deterred by a computated information online and has not been to this area, which contains a dense population of homeowners, is not fully informed on the positives of this neighborhood. If you want a nice home, a yard, a short commute to downtown without the hustle and bustle , congestion or the price tag, I would recommend looking at properties in Benning Ridge.
Aside from the petty crimes like smash and grab, car theft, the neighborhood is okay. There are a lot of residential neighborhoods throughout with elderly and young families alike, so there are a lot of children and teenagers. I think that there are too many apartment buildings, there should be more houses, less liquor stores and more recreation centers for the kids.
I like how everyone on my street is friendly and have been good neighborhoods, but the connecting streets always have a bunch of loud music or kids yelling down the street on weekends. Also whenever there is an incident on my street it takes almost an half hour before the police come.
