This neighborhood can cover basic needs in terms of food, groceries, a hospital, schools, and even some busy nightlife. I’ve lived here for 15 years and have witnessed gang violence and even a break-in in our own home. Regardless of a wave of troubling times, the community prospered and has attracted more people to move in in recent years (construction of new apartment complexes, more restaurants, less crime, etc)

Belmont Cragin is in an area where everything that is good about Chicago and all the features that make it Chicago are not far away. The schools are good, day cares are affordable and certified, taxes are the lower side of high for Chicago, and there is hardly any violence in the neighborhood. Its a diverse area with primary Polish but you can see all types of cultures. Downtown/Lake is only 20 minutes away on the express, there are 2 to 3 malls also 15 to 30 minutes away and the popular wicker park and logan square farmers market is also a few minutes down the road.
I come from Albany Park which by the years have been worse , so now living in Belmont Cragin everything is quiet and the neighbors are friendly, they come together when something in the neighborhood needs something or if anyone in the neighborhood needs help we are all there to help out. Very good and safe neighborhood to live in!
