State street offers many great restaurants, cafes and shops. Unfortunately, it's far from my job. Some parts of the town are very poor and unsafe. Central Park is beautiful. The taxes are high but the county's garbage removal is good.
There is absolutely nothing to do in this city.
Schenectady is a horrible place to live, work, and for education for our children.
Schenectady is a small area, so businesses are limited. The introduction of Quirky has helped a lot, and GE is still a large employer. However, a lot of the jobs available are government or service jobs.
It all depends on where you live. If you're in the richer communities, a lot of businesses are franchises. In the lower-income areas you will find more mom-and-pop places, but a lot of businesses are run down and the surrounding areas aren't very safe.
