I grew up in Avondale, and I've faced discrimination of it. I've had friends outside of the minority who weren't allowed to come over because of rumors that went on about my neighborhood. Avondale doesn't have the best streets, or greatest views, but it is a great place to make friends. I would like to see Avondale's community grow closer together. I would love for there to be a cleaner environment, and become "home" to others. Avondale is under-construction now, so I know that it will live up to its potential.
Well there isn't much crime in Avondale other than the drug dealing that goes on on Alaska and the corner of Burnet and Forest. There was a murder on Burnet that happened a year ago. The nearby churches have been doing the best they can to keep morale and morels up, but they can only do so much.
I liked the housing and apartments, the quietness, and the convenience to get to and from places locally. I also like the neighbors, the local schools, and the availability of public transportation that allows me to travel anywhere I deem fit.
