Our community is like a private beach heaven. There have been enormous improvements made since Hurricane Sandy and now our little community is better than it has ever been! Much more family oriented now and the neighborhood is filled with all sorts of culturally diverse foods and great nightlife. The crime rate is very low here. If you commute, it is a very easy train ride into NYC. Plenty of buses to get you around Queens. The public school system is great. Very family friendly area and chill environment. Great surfing here, too! The nightly sunsets are magical.
Arverne is a growing neighborhood, that is welcoming more and more visitors due to its very close proximity to the beach. Since Arverne is a part of the Rockaway Beach Peninsula, there is a great amount of diversity. Since the neighborhood is surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean and Jamaica Bay, it is much more prone to heavier rain and drastic effects after hurricanes. After Hurricane Sandy, Arverne was like a ghost town but after a few years of recovery, Arverne is again booming and alive. Tourist always come back for the great scenery and great food. Visiting Arverne, NY and Rockaway Beach is the trip of a lifetime.
I enjoy living near and walking on the welcoming pedestrian walkway across the beach coast. The beaches are an attractive summer resort, and the community is becoming increasingly gentrified.
