family friendly, short commute, affordable places to stay. Nice and quiet, quick response to emergencies. Lots of school choices for kids, quite a few job choices and commute to work is great for those with no vehicles of their own. Good nightlife for those who like to go out. Short commute to the big easy for those who want to visit the French quarter and neighboring areas.

I like the old time setting, the shotgun houses, oak tree lined streets, and the quietness. Commuting is easy by bike, car, ferry, and bridge. It is a great to go to church.
I have grown up in this neighborhood all my life, and enjoyed every bit of it. Algiers Point has the charm of Uptown, the beauty of the lower Garden District, and the history of the French Quarter on a much quieter scale. Though it is on the West bank, the above mentioned areas are easy to reach with public transportation; one can walk to the ferry in be in the French Quarter in minutes, and from there take a streetcar or bus.
