Algiers Point Reviews

Great schools, lots of places to shop and eat, and I haven't seen any safety concerns. Lots of older people in the neighborhood so ambulances are very prominent but besides that, a quiet neighborhood.
I picked this neighborhood kind of randomly after moving all the way from IL. Man, was that a good choice. It is super safe, quiet and beautiful. There are super charming houses lining the streets, cute small little shops near the river, and friendly people around every corner. During COVID, the people of the Point have even put on a little concert every Wednesday night in front of someone's house, and everyone sits across the street and listens at a safe distance. There's community events for adults and kids. There is a feeling of being isolated from the rest of the city, especially when the ferry isn't running. There are a few bars and restaurants near the ferry terminal but if you're not in the mood for those, driving out of the Point is necessary. I don't have kids, so I am not sure about the schools, but I've heard good things. If you're new to the area and worried about where to stay safe in NOLA, this is a great place to start.
I like the old time setting, the shotgun houses, oak tree lined streets, and the quietness. Commuting is easy by bike, car, ferry, and bridge. It is a great to go to church.
