I was born in Roseburg, Oregon but raised, graduated, still currently raising my children here in myrtle creek, Oregon. I believe that if you felt safe where you were raised than why not raise your children there also. All teacher's know you and so they already know about your child's disabilities as they do. It's an Amazing feeling knowing your kids are safe and in a good Community where you can get all types of resources when needing help.
The fire Departments and meds and officers get to places quickly. Respect of others in our community is fantastic. Not often do you get downgraded but get help when needed. I love my community and all the joys from the hearts of others in our town

I like how small of a community it is here in myrtle creek, but there are a few major issues. First, there is a good portion of the town that is just trailer parks. Also there is lots of drug and alcohol use here. Due to the community being so small, everyone knows everyone just about. The schooling here is very questionable though. First, due to the high drug use and alcohol use, the schools are riddled with underage use that often causes issues. Also there has been lots of threats towards the local schools lately. For those two reasons, Myrtle Creek is not family friendly because of all the negative influences.
For the retired...Myrtle Creek is a quaint and quiet community with friendly people. Not much as far as resources...but a short enough of a commute to make all necessities within a 15 minute drive. Excellent fire and police department along with a progressive local government. I've lived here for 6 months and am happy to call it home. Affordable and homey.
