I moved to Myrtle Beach in the summer of 2020. Myrtle Beach is a VACATION DESTINATION! It is fun to go to for vacation, however living here is a different story. Everything is tourist aimed, so the prices for most things are going to be a bit expensive, unless they have a resident's discount. On the bright side there's a bunch of activities around like mini golf, water parks, the beach. I mean I have probably been to the beach twice since I moved here. The schools are pretty average. There's a bit of crime, especially if you are on the wrong side of town. It's a very conservative town, then again SC is a red state. Depending on the neighborhood the houses are nice and are priced pretty nice, and since it's a tourist trap there's many jobs in the area you just have to look for them.
Since I have been fortunate enough to travel and live in many cities, my opinion of MB has not been favorable. There is not much culture, history or quaintness in this seaside town. It has a very commercial look to it with obnoxious looking advertisements and shopping strip-smalls everywhere. There are pockets of MB that are pretty, but they are very few and far between. For the most part, MB is dirty, lacking elegance and very industrial looking. Many people have moved here and it is growing rapidly, but I think it is because it is more affordable than more of the neighboring affluent cities nearby.
I've lived here for 4 years already and it is a nice town, its a vacation town so there's a lot of nice restaurants, places to shop, fun entertainments, and nice beaches. What I like the most is our entertainments here, we have helicopter rides, zombie apocalypse adventure, virtual reality arcade, boat riding, parachuting at the beach, the wax museum, car racing, and so much more! It's like a never ending chain of excitement. And lets not forget all the delicious places to go eat at. Myrtle Beach is famous for its seafood restaurants especially the crap legs. But of course everything has its cons and pros, such as the crime rate here and the traffic overflow. That is why I would rate Myrtle Beach 3 stars.
