I am not a fan of Murphysboro. I have lived here for most of my life and have seen this town deteriorate. Crime is ramped and drugs are everywhere. The once thriving nearby university is losing students by the minute. Public school education is poor and is not preparing students for college. Along with the poor education, bullying rates are high. Judging by the hundreds of for sale signs seen when driving through the town, I'm not the only one seeing this. Everyone who is able is leaving. As I graduated this year, I took my chance to get out of Murphysboro and applied to colleges in different states. I can't say I'll ever miss this town. What once may have been a quaint small town has now turned into a dump.

Murphysboro is a great place to live, work, worship, and raise a family. We have beautiful scenery, small town charm, excellent wineries, breweries, and restaurants, and both private and public education. Close enough to commute to many different cities, definitely a great choice to call home!
Murphysboro is a very open and diverse community. Everybody in this town is very friendly and willing help out with anything. One thing this town should consider is constructing more faculites that are fun and safe for kids, like a swimming pool or a bowling alley.
