One of the largest problems in the area is drugs. It plagues almost every age group including high school students and even some middle school students. When reading the arrest report(s) in the local newspaper, most of those taken into custody are taken in because of either selling, being in possession of, or under the influence of drugs. At the same time, burglary and domestic abuse are second or third. While they are high up, these along with similar crimes do not occur as often or at least are not reported as often as that of drugs.

The police do deserve a voice for their continued work to protect and serve the people of our society. Sooner or later law enforcement takes care of some of the major issues plaguing our homes, friends, etc. Their visibility or response to dangerous situations is great in terms of speed and action.

For the most part, housing is affordable and usually takes care of the buyers' or renters' needs. There are little to no abandoned/vacant places, and those that are vacant are taken care of within a few months time. An example is an older brick building that was once a factory has been completely renovated. This will be the place of the 2016 Senior Prom for the local high school. Staying in town or half-an-hour outside of it really has no effect on the rating of such housing. Almost all housing is kept up with in order to keep up with the people.
Overall, the quality of life is alright. Socially, the community is slowly changing as far as crime is concerned. Also, education continues to neither improve or get worse. Economically it seems that with the construction and opening of the casino, it hasn't gotten better or worse; however, new businesses i.e. restaurants, are beginning to provide a better outlet. This is especially true for the younger crowds who are looking to start out somewhere.
