I currently reside in Murphy, Texas and the living/lifestyle is overall fairly good! Great environment for raising a family with things to do. Very peaceful
The city of murphy is very small, but tight-knit. All of the residents are friendly, which makes it easier to build relationships with people and interact with neighbors! Also, Murphy hosts many fun events during the year such as Maize Days, which is a mini fair! Everyone comes out to city hall and central park to eat, play carnival games, and fellowship with other people while listening to some great music! However, the only thing I could change about Murphy is the inclusivity of minority groups. I am an African-American male, but I also identify myself as a gay male in the community. Sometimes the lack of representation by different groups is devastating, such as the overpowering white dominance in town meetings and the town newspaper. This allows all decisions or influences to be biased. I understand that people cannot change immediately, but if I could bring awareness to my hometown by addressing the lack of inclusiveness, I know I can make a difference for future generations.
Murphy is not a big city like Plano, but it is in a good suburban spot where big stores and restaurants are within a 5 minute reach. The public schools of Plano Independent School District are top notch, as Plano has one of the best school districts in the entire state. There is an abundance of recreation provided through an array of parks and recreational centers. Everybody is friendly and there is minimal crime, if any at all. There has been many homes popping up around Murphy over the years as developmental is still occurring. It is also in close vicinity to big cities such as Plano and Garland. Overall, Murphy is a good peaceful place to live with many opportunities for fun.
