Mountain Lakes is incredibly safe, relaxed and beautiful. A perfect place to settle down and have kids, considering the outstanding education at our highly ranked schools. There is a tremendous sense of community, but it is gossip-y and sports-focused, with many stay-at-home moms, rather than a blend of many types of personalities and cultures. Aside from the town specifically, it is in a fantastic area - very close to New York City, Pennsylvania, the Jersey Shore, and countless varieties of food and entertainment.

I grew up in Mountain Lakes, and though it may sometimes be considered an affluent and stuck up town, I truly enjoyed my experience there. The schools taught me to achieve like a college student droman early age, and as long as you have a good head on your shoulders, there really are many groups to fit into in the school system. The community is safe and quaint, though seriously lacking in the down town area.
The actual town of Mountain Lakes does not have many businesses. The exception is the popular restaurant Hapgoods that many people frequent. Thus, the community extends to the towns of Denville, Boonton, and Parsippany. Together the community has an abundance of local stores and big companies. All of these stores help make the community great.
