Lived there for 15 years; if you are from the baby boomer generation and you are looking for a place to live out the rest of your life, or a parent looking to raise children from a crime infested city, then this is the place for you. However, everyone else stay far away! There is nothing here to do, there is a lot of prejudice if you are not a white Christian that doesn't go to church and constantly question their scripture, and there is nothing here to do! The only jobs that are here are manufacturing, retail, and health care. There are more graves than opportunities; if you move here to test the waters, YOU WILL GET STUCK HERE FOR A LONG ASS TIME! Warning to parents that are seeking to raise kids; don't keep them here forever, their only ticket out if they want a better life will be the military or roommates. I would advise you to move to Springfield Missouri or somewhere else close by. ALL YOUNG ADULTS, STAY THE HECK AWAY! YOU WILL LOSE YOUR YOUTH HERE, AND NO ONE WILL CARE.
I have lived in Mountain Home for about 13 years now. A few things that I like about the town are it's lakes, community, and the nature of the area. The Ozarks are known for their fantastic lakes and rivers, so Mountain Home is a great place for fishers and boaters. The community is amazing because everyone here is very kind. It is a very relaxing town as well, mostly because of the high rate of retired citizens. The city and surrounding area also has a ton of nature and wildlife to offer. It is a very green area and the air is always fresh. You do have to worry about allergy season though. The wildlife Arkansas has to offer is beautiful and plentiful, especially the deer. Hunting season is when the town gets particularly busy because of this. A few downsides of the town are that you don't have many options when it comes to businesses or restaurants, because it is a small town. It also may be a bit hard meeting new people here. Overall it is an amazing town and has a lot to offer.
Mountain Home was a great place to grow up and or to raise a family. We are surrounded by two lakes and three rivers making for a beautiful oasis. The town of Mountain Home is friendly, and activity driven for both children, school events, and nightlife. The cost of living is very affordable and would recommend anyone to have their family relocate to Mountain Home to start a new journey.
